To be honest with you I've lost track with where I saw your work. Initially I did a google search for Australian wildlife artists and went from there. I live in Alexandra Hills, what about you?
Rachael, it's wonderful to see your work on the Nature Niche and it's just as I remember it when I initially saw it. My favourites are your pods and scribbly gum tree works - sensational and I also admire your feel for repeat patterns which I did a lot of at art school, having specialised in printed textiles where we had to work out how to repeat our artwork designs for clothing etc. I love how you have incorporated one of your designs into your Niche theme sidebars as well. Thank you for your contributions and tremendous artwork - hope to see lots more from you. Lesley
Hi Racheal, love your site, so suits you, and your photos are fantastic, gosh I think I will look at plants in a different way after seeing your photos, very well done.
Hi,
My name is Rachael Lee and I am a visual artist based in Brisbane, Queensland.
I aim to evoke in the viewer an awareness of the beauty found in nature through an exploration of visual perception and the underlying numerical patterns found in plants, most commonly the spiral.
The number Phi (pronounced 'fee') with its value of 1.618… forms the basis of my research into plant structures and geometric patterns.
Macro views are presented to challenge the viewer's recognition of turning seeing into understanding. Individuals see the same image differently as the brain recalls images from its stored memory of past experiences to grasp its meaning.
I am interested in the moment when our perception of an image changes in front of our eyes, thereby consciously catching glimpses of the brain processing visual information.
