Wether or not I am an "artist" or not is up to the viewers. But... I do have between 20 and 30 avid gardeners coming to my home on the 29th to look at my garden and my art!! The Coffs Harbour Garden Club is on its way! :))

Hi my name is Julie Gilmore (aka Garden Jools)
I am an artist who was a gardener and a traveler of Australia, now I am an artist and a writer!
I began painting murals on very tired old sheds, walls and doors...but had to leave them behind whenever I moved....so, I came up with portable murals created on recycled metal and timber. Due to an injury sustained whilst working in a garden, I now paint and write full time. Primarily I focus on garden subjects and scenery of Australia...all places I have been and all flowers have a story. I have recreated my life!

Moving up a step!

Hello everyone!
I have been as busy as a blow fly in a jam tin (again!!) with setting up a new site where I can sell my photos and photos of my art as greeting cards, prints and calenders. Its very exciting and the quality of the products is excellent! I am still waiting to hear more news regarding the wall murals I have my sights set on (sigh!), so...to keep myself busy and perhaps get some further recognition..I took this path http://gardenjools.redbubble.com . Please let me know what you thin… Continue

Public Murals

Hi everyone!
I have such exciting news. I have been asked to paint a mural on the main wall of the toilet block at the Beach Reserve here in Woolgoolga!!! I have some ideas for such a large piece (it would have to be at least 15m!), but am wanting to involve some art students and other local kids to help me. So...once I get the "official nod"...I'll round up the budding young artists and throw some ideas around. There is also talk of me commanding a much larger project in Woolgoolga...more on th… Continue

North Coast alert

Am sitting here watching and listening to the cyclonic conditions of outside!!! This is unbelievable. It is like a cyclone that has lasted for 48 hrs and does not look like letting up just yet. There is massive power shortages, destruction to homes, businesses and vehicles. Roads are getting washed away as well as shorelines and river banks. Schools have been shut and residents have been advised to stay indoors and off the roads. Grafton is in serious trouble with the banks of the river predicte… Continue

Thank you for your positive comments, Julie. Appreciate it so much. I worked on these canvases over a period of 6 months while my dear mother was dying. In many ways I see it as a tribute and colourful celebration of her life.
Take care... Dianne

Hi Julie, and thanks for taking the time to look at my photos. I'm jealous but proud of you for having a solo exhibition, it must be heart in mouth stuff to show your work. Congratulations.

I have my work on my own personal site, but sadly only manage to sell one or two a year. Some day, I'd love to have a book published - but that's a long way off I suspect. In the meantime I just love painting with light.

Congratulations on your sale. Just by holding an exhibition it puts you out there for people to notice. I send all over Australia for exhibitions for that reason. I use to get told that was a totally waste of money but it has paid off in the long run. Top job for the gallery to want to keep your paintings longer. i wish you all the best and my your sale multiply.....Sandy

Thanking you Julie for your kind review. I love the rain forest and waterfalls. I Usually have water in my paintings until someone pointed that out to me I didn't realise. Your new place looks fabulous that would be heaven for me to live in open spaces. Just love your flowers. How did you art exhibition go........Sandy

Oh Cheryl...that is beautiful!!! I can almost smell this photo! What a wonderful place to camp!!!! At the moment I am feeling a need to leave the family "support"...oddly enough! My youngest is 7 (I had her when I was 37) and she came with me to Darwin...such a gracious little travelling companion! And - after the last 19 months and then a wonderful trip away...I feel I need to start my life a fresh, as a disabled person (I was formally notified today, that I am now a disabled pensioner!), not lingering in the past! My head is thinking Bellingen. I would love to end up in Darwin, but not just yet. Katherine may just have to go on the backburner for a little while as well. Perhaps we could plan another trip together..... that is not so far away!
