I really feel for you about Steve asking you to do the illustrations only to be pipped at the post by another artist - very gut wrenching for one's career and self esteem. It is soooo tough out there for artists as you already know! Now, as far as going to O'Reillys, that will be fun but a real shame about the damaged camera. I'm just looking at your little painting of my favourite Kingfisher: The Little Kingfisher! I've only seen it twice, both times on Daintree River bird trips...Your painting of him is gorgeous!

I was up in Cape York when I was about 22..so it was about 22 years ago, about 1986. I was living in Atherton 5 years ago, but had to return to my home town of Orange - needed a strong support network at the time. I have such an overwhelming need to "go bush", its a place where I feel so much better. I love the sounds, the smells and the sights of nature...makes me feel peaceful and "at one" with myself, a calming influence. I am saving to go to Katherine and get as far as I can, with absorbing what makes me feel good! I never expected to be excited about going on a cruise..its never been something that appealed to me...but thats was in the past. I now look at the best way for me to go! I would really love to drive there, but cannot drive a car anymore...so am kind of on the look out for someone who would make a good companion for such a trip!
