We have heaps of capeweed, the birds love them , they dig them up and eat the roots, when we were kids we used to make daisy chains , which was a lot of fun. They do look pretty, and are a great food source for some birds.Really nice photo Michelle.

Love capeweed, even though it is a pest. It's still a pretty flower. Nice shot

Help me with my new Project if you can!

I have been thinking about doing something like this for a long time and realise that the job is bigger than just little old me! I live in Queensland for instance and am not exposed to the wildlife in other Australian States. I have created a gorgeous free site using the Wetpaint Community platform and anyone can join who would like to contribute in creating a wealth of educational resources about Australian Wildlife and Wild Plants.

My aim is to provide an educational site for artists, writers, researchers, nature lovers, school children, students etc to be able to find information, resources and help in identifying all of our beloved Australian critters. I have so many photographs just waiting to be added and I hope that you do too and that you would be willing to share them with the world! Even if you can't identify what they are but they are good quality, members would love you to share them and we can help you identify the species. This is very much a community site where everyone has the power to create, tweak, modify, correct, add to, help, discuss and so on. It will, however, be moderated just to keeps things 'fair'.

Why would you do this ?

because you:

* are passionate about Australian native wildlife and you want to learn more about all of the flora and fauna around you

* you have knowledge in this area which you would like to share

* want to meet like-minded people who share the same love of nature as yourself

* are a wildlife artist/photographer/writer/illustrator who would like to showcase your work and gain more exposure (you can link back to your website)

* you have the opportunity to sell your photographs to publishers, artists looking for resource photos etc

* want to help raise awareness of Australian animal rights and welfare

* have good photographs of Australian flora and fauna which you would like to showcase, share and educate others about

* you are a wildlife carer

* are a writer or author looking for information and images on Australian wildlife

* have or belong to a wildlife organisation which you would like to promote

Pop over to Australian Wildlife Educational Site now and explore. Please support my vision by becoming a member for free and contributing in whatever way you can, no matter how small and there will never be any pressure on you from anyone to contribute and no nagging e-mails. After all, this site is about a greater cause than our own egos but rather a like-minded group of people who are passionate about their love for Australian nature. Having said that though, you get your own page as well where you may choose to promote yourself and your work. What have you got to lose?

Art Theft

Hi everyone,

I've decided to take down my images for a while until I can properly watermark them. Unfortunately, art thieves think that they can take my work without crediting me or acknowledging me as the artist, so until then, I don't feel comfortable having myimages up whilst I am working to resolve this issue. I am sure you can understand.

Show is going well and my apologies for not posting earlier

Hi everyone.

I'm so sorry I haven't posted anything before now (I seem to keep saying that...sigh) but I have been so busy lately both with drawing and family commitments. My SALA Festival show is going really well so far even though the venue (Old Adelaide Gaol) is far more quiet than I had anticipated. Unfortunately it's the 'quiet time of year'. I've been in there a couple of days where there has only been a couple of people through. Having said that, I've sold 4 originals so I'm absolutely… Continue

Another Free way to sell your work using ArtFire

This is another fantastic option to sell your work online which I have just discovered and it is probably better than ShopIt in some ways because you have more postage options and you can charge a local and international fee plus offer postage discounts if the customer purchases several items in the one order.

There are two shop options available: free basic shop and the verified full feature shop ($12 per month). The feel and layout is similar t… Continue

Selling your art on this site!

If you are interested in selling your work on this site, the easiest way by far is to use the shopit application which is FREE.

1. You need to register then set up your store first on Shopit. Add your products, prices and shipping charge. Disadvantage: You can charge a different shipping fee for each item but only a flat shipping fee is available whether you are sending it locally or internationally.Continue

Dreams

Wether or not I am an "artist" or not is up to the viewers. But... I do have between 20 and 30 avid gardeners coming to my home on the 29th to look at my garden and my art!! The Coffs Harbour Garden Club is on its way! :))

My first solo (ish) show!!

Hi everyone,

I'm really thrilled to say that I'll be having my very first solo (ish) exhibition as part of the SALA (South Australian Living Artists) Festival in August and I am so excited about it!

I say solo-ish because there will actually be five artists in the building, which is a big cellblock in the historic Adelaide Gaol, but we will display as solo artists (we have an entire wing of the cell block each!).

The SALA festival is on from August 7th until August 23. The Adelaide Gaol is op… Continue

Moving up a step!

Hello everyone!
I have been as busy as a blow fly in a jam tin (again!!) with setting up a new site where I can sell my photos and photos of my art as greeting cards, prints and calenders. Its very exciting and the quality of the products is excellent! I am still waiting to hear more news regarding the wall murals I have my sights set on (sigh!), so...to keep myself busy and perhaps get some further recognition..I took this path http://gardenjools.redbubble.com . Please let me know what you thin… Continue

Public Murals

Hi everyone!
I have such exciting news. I have been asked to paint a mural on the main wall of the toilet block at the Beach Reserve here in Woolgoolga!!! I have some ideas for such a large piece (it would have to be at least 15m!), but am wanting to involve some art students and other local kids to help me. So...once I get the "official nod"...I'll round up the budding young artists and throw some ideas around. There is also talk of me commanding a much larger project in Woolgoolga...more on th… Continue
